Job Description

We’re looking for passionate, curious, and driven interns to join our Editorial & Research team. This internship is ideal for recent graduates or students in journalism, media, communications, political science, or research who want to gain hands-on experience in a digital newsroom setting.

Interns will work under the guidance of our professional journalists and editors across categories and contribute to real-world stories, fact-checking efforts, and research-driven articles.

Responsibilities

  • Assist journalists in researching news leads and background sources
  • Help fact-check and verify data before publication
  • Contribute to article drafts, summaries, or sidebars
  • Monitor news wires, social media, and public data feeds for trending topics
  • Support multimedia storytelling (images, infographics, quotes)
  • Participate in editorial meetings and brainstorms
  • Learn how to work within a CMS (Content Management System)
  • Help with scheduling and publishing on social platforms

Requirements

  • Current student or recent graduate (preferably in Journalism, Media Studies, Communications, or Political Science)
  • Strong writing, grammar, and editing skills
  • Solid research skills and attention to detail
  • Curious mindset and passion for truth-based journalism
  • Tech-savvy: Basic knowledge of Google Docs, email, and digital tools
  • South African citizenship or residency
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
